Escrita por un prisionero alemán internado en el cuartel de San José, posiblemente procedente de las tropas alemanas que fueron derrotadas en Camerún, que acabaron en territorio neutral de la Guinea Española y más tarde fueron trasladados a la isla de Fernando Poo, debido a la presión de los países aliados las autoridades españolas tomaron la decisión de transportar en 1916 a casi un millar de alemanes que serían internados en Alcalá, Pamplona y Zaragoza hasta el final de la guerra, a estos prisioneros los llamaron "Los alemanes del Camerún", que fueron regresando a su país una vez finalizada la contienda.
